What’s up Ramily?! HOW ABOUT THAT WIN!!! Welcome to this week’s edition of Talking Touchdowns. The Rams had themselves quite the game against the Texans on Sunday. Now they go back on the road to a rather frigid Minnesota to take on the Vikings. Here is a quick look at the matchup.
Los Angeles Rams vs. Minnesota Vikings
The Rams had a huge HOME victory and their fourth straight win over the Houston Texans on Sunday where they scored 33 points. The game started out a little slow for the Rams offense as they were only able to put field goals on the board, but at the half, things quickly changed. In the third quarter, Robert Woods caught a 94 yard touchdown pass from Jared Goff for his third touchdown as a Los Angeles Ram. But it didn’t stop there. Sammy Watkins followed with a 17 yard touchdown. Then Woods and Goff connected again for a 12 yarder.
Jared Goff had another career high game this week as he went 25 of 37 for 355 yards. He is clearly finding a rhythm and chemistry with his offense as he leads them down the field. Todd Gurley is staying consistent with 68 yards on 11 carries. The Rams offense is proving to be a force to be reckoned with.
On the other side of the ball, the Rams defense continued to shine. They forced 4 turnovers and only allowed the Texans to score 7 points. The defense recorded three sacks and two interceptions, proving just how strong the defensive unit can be.
Time to look ahead to this week’s matchup as the Rams road warriors get back on a plane to Minnesota. This team really excels on the road so I can only hope for a good week this week.
The Vikings are coming off a 38-30 win over a tough Redskins team and moved to 7-2 on the season, sitting atop the NFC North. Despite numerous injuries to key players this season, including their starting QB Sam Bradford and rookie running back Dalvin Cook, the Vikings have proved to be major contenders and have won five straight games.
Former Rams’ quarterback Case Keenum has filled the QB void extremely well so far going 21-29 for 304 yards with two TDs against a solid Redskins defense this past week, but the real heart and soul of this team is its defense. It ranks fifth or better in all key statistical categories and will be a tough test for Goff and the Rams potent offense.
Both teams head into this NFC matchup with 7-2 records and first in their divisions, making this an intriguing matchup between two potential NFC playoff teams. The Rams offense ranks first in the NFL in points per game, averaging a whopping 32.9, while the defense ranks fourth overall giving up only 18 points per game. Both of which are a huge reason for their team success so far this season.
Much like the Rams, the Vikings defense is stacked with talent. Linebackers Eric Kendricks and Anthony Barr, defensive end Everson Griffen and defensive backs Trae Waynes and Xavier Rhodes are all top tier NFL players that should make for an exciting matchup between these two teams.
Now for my game prediction. I am giving the rams the WIN. Yes, this week might be a little tougher but I am behind this team more than ever. We got this!Don’t forget to subscribe to my YouTube channel and make sure to follow me on Twitter and Instagram @ramsFGSN. Go Rams!
