Dazed and confused is what the Raiders looked after being dominated on both sides of the ball and suffering a 27-10 loss Sunday night to the Washington Redskins. Kirk Cousins threw for 365 yards and three touchdowns, Running Back Chris Thompson had 188 all-purpose yards, featuring a 74-yard catch-and-run to go along with his 22-yard touchdown reception.
The Redskins defense sacked Derek Carr four times and held the Oakland Raiders to 128 yards in total offense. The Raiders went 0 of 11 on third down as part of their anemic offensive effort. Their 47 first-half yards were their fewest since Week 14 against Denver in 2015, according to ESPN Stats & Info.
Oakland’s only touchdown, a 21-yard pass from Carr to tight end Jared Cook, came after the Redskins’ Jamison Crowder muffed a punt return and the Raiders recovered at the Washington 18 yard line. The Raiders had scoring drives of 18 and 8 yards.
Nothing went right for the Raiders Sunday Night. Derek Carr blames himself for the loss. “I have to be better,” Carr said. “Put all the blame on me. It’s my fault. Everybody wants to pat you on the back when you win. You have to own it when you don’t.Put it all on me. I’ll be all right.”
Carr went on to say that the team ” got punched in the mouth.” But “It’s all about how we respond. We’ll be ready to fight.”
The Raiders will look to bounce back from this abysmal effort next week as they travel to the mile-high to take on the Denver Broncos, kickoff is at 1:25pm PST.Don’t forget to subscribe to my YouTube channel and make sure to follow me on Twitter and Instagram @raidersFGSN. Go Raiders!
